IWSG

First Wednesday of February, 2013

Recently I started submitting my work and my personal essay titled "A Dance With Dad" was published at Anderbo.com

What is especially sweet about this is that it was published days before my fathers one year death anniversary. I know he is proud of me. I also know he agreed to take that Zumba class so that I would have a strong memory to hold onto and to write about.

All of the stories I've submitted are about people who have died. I guess in part because writing has been a major part of my healing. My desire to hold onto their essence fuels my creative process.

For me, this is all part of the Rainbow Connection. Writing is our way of staying connected. Because I know that even though they are not here it doesn't mean they're gone.

I have the strongest memory of my son Kerry at age 8, standing in our kitchen singing this song at the top of his lungs. And me smiling with tears in my eyes.

  6. I've tried, several times to write about my mother, who passed away this last October, but all I've managed to do so far, is put up a few photos. Maybe it's been too soon, but I'm sure that it will help preserve her memory & maybe even speed the healing process. Thank you for sharing your memories of your father & your son with us.

  9. I agree. They're just with us in a different way. I like to think that every time I think of someone, it's because they're checking in on me.
