First Wednesday of February, 2013
Recently I started submitting my work and my personal essay titled "A Dance With Dad" was published at Anderbo.com
What is especially sweet about this is that it was published days before my fathers one year death anniversary. I know he is proud of me. I also know he agreed to take that Zumba class so that I would have a strong memory to hold onto and to write about.
All of the stories I've submitted are about people who have died. I guess in part because writing has been a major part of my healing. My desire to hold onto their essence fuels my creative process.
For me, this is all part of the Rainbow Connection. Writing is our way of staying connected. Because I know that even though they are not here it doesn't mean they're gone.
I have the strongest memory of my son Kerry at age 8, standing in our kitchen singing this song at the top of his lungs. And me smiling with tears in my eyes.
To those of you visiting from the Insecure Writer's Support Group, THANK YOU!
